3 Ways to Stay More Accountable with Fitness

Accountability.

It’s an honest word. A word that you have to live by if you want to get results in your fitness journey.

Accountability is what gets you out of bed in the morning to get to the gym. Accountability is what keeps you from eating those sweets after all the hard work.

Staying accountable, and having people around you hold you accountable is what makes the difference between results and mediocrity, the difference between winning, and losing.

Here are the top 3 ways to stay accountable to your health.

1. TRACK EVERYTHING

Did you know that research shows that people who write down what they eat get results 2x as fast? When you write down two things happen. One, you realize how crappy you really eat. Two, you are internally motivated to eat healthier because you don’t want to have to write down crap.

Tracking your training is just as important. What weights did you use? How are you improving? If you don’t track where you’re at, you can’t improve.

2. SAVE THOSE JEANS

What is more motivation than seeing those old jeans that don’t fit anymore? You need drive. And when you go and try to put those jeans on and they don’t fit, that drives you to work harder.

We even have clients go as far as pinning their old jeans on the refrigerator, so they see it every time they are in the kitchen.

Guess what?

They’re the ones getting the best results.

Find something that motivates you, something that drives you, and look at it everyday.

Then one day, you know what will happen?

Those old jeans that use to be too small, are now falling off your hips.

3. SOCIAL SUPPORT

Who’s going to be that person that calls you and says “Lets go, where going for a run!”?

Who’s going to be that person that pushes you and gets you to do something outside of your comfort zone?

Results happen outside your comfort zone.

Whether it’s a friend, a coach, or your mom, you need someone that keeps you motivated, gives you a little push, and tells you to get your ass outta’ bed.

Stick with these 3 things, and you’ll be the 1%. The 1% who actually get results in fitness and in health, and not just spin their wheels, or go through the ever so common yo-yo effect.

Dedicated to Your Success,

Doug Spurling
